February 7th, 2007 Phase One
Complete!
We
are pleased to announce that fundraising for Phase One of the 58th
Virginia Battle Flag Restoration Project is complete. The $8,000
goal for Oct 31st, 2006 was met ahead of schedule. We are
now over half way toward our goal of raising the total of $24,000
needed by our self imposed deadline of Feb 2008. We continue to be
overwhelmed by the number of people supporting this project. We are
now doubling our efforts to complete phase two of this very
worthwhile task and preserve a piece of Civil War
history.
We are now planning a very busy
schedule for 2007. Check our website for upcoming visits,
presentations and fundraising activities. We remind everyone
that the 58th Virginia is available to speak to your group about our
flag restoration program. To reach us about this or any other
reason, please feel free to Contact
Us.

August
30th, 2006 Phase 1 nearing
completion
The
58th Virginia Infantry is pleased to announce that Phase One of the
Flag restoration project is nearly complete. Cpt Chris Loving says
the group has over $7000 in the companies flag savings account and
is ahead of schedule for meeting the self imposed $8,000 goal to be
reached by Oct 31st of this year. "Reaching this goal will be a very
significant milestone for us. The funds we have raised to date have
come mostly from descendants of the 58th, Virginia SCV members and
the reenactment community. We are so grateful for their help and
support."
The group is planning on several upcoming
fundraisers to help put them over the goal. They will be selling
t-shirts and raising funds at the Standardsville Reenactment on the
weekend of September 23 & 24th. The fundraising tent will then
be set up on sutler row at the Cedar Creek event in Middletown
Virginia on Oct 21 & 22nd. The Central Virginia Civil War
Collectors Association has agreed to donate a space for us to set up
at the upcoming Capital of the Confederacy Civil War relic show at
the Richmond Raceway on Nov 18 & 19th. A check for $8,000 will
be presented to the MOC at the show.
We wish to extend thanks
to several groups for their generous support of the flag. Dixie
Outfitters has been very gracious in helping us start and maintain
our t-shirt sales at a minimal cost to us. Dewey Barber and Dennis
Beeton have been wonderful to work with and we so appreciate their
help. The Virginia SCV Division recently presented us with $250 and
charged each brigade within the state to do the same. SCV Camp 21 in
Leesburg (4th Brigade) recently made a $500 donation to our cause
and Cpt Loving is very proud of his home group for such a generous
gift. The Fincastle Rifles SCV camp 1326 (3rd Brigade) recently
presented us $350 and we extend thanks to the boys in '58th Va
country'.
We remind everyone that our group is available for
presentations about our restoration program. Please Contact
Us for more
information.
